Wellington Physiotherapy Associates (WPA) is private multi-disciplined physiotherapy clinic located centrally in Downtown Guelph. The Wellington Physiotherapy facility is also home to the Wellington Hand Clinic as well as the practice location of Dr. Wayne Fung, an Orthopedic Surgeon with specialty in Hand Surgery. Wellington Physiotherapy Associates has been owned and operated by a local licensed physiotherapist since 1996.
Fundamental to our physiotherapy approach at WPA is an appreciation of the client’s role in their care. Our experienced staff works with each client to provide patient education along with specific treatment and rehabilitation strategies tailored to the patient’s lifestyle and goals to maximize their individual recovery.
Our experienced therapists are able to work with clients of all ages and conditions to promote and restore the patient’s health and wellness.
Wellington Physiotherapy Associates and the Wellington Hand clinic staff consist of licensed physiotherapists, occupational therapists, certified athletic therapists, and registered massage therapists. All of our therapists are members of their respective Professional College andor National and Provincial associations and are committed to abiding and upholding the highest professional standards.

Our GOAL at WELLINGTON PHYSIOTHERAPY ASSOCIATES is to provide our patients with very high quality physiotherapy in a friendy, professional environment and in a convenient, easily accessible and prompt manner.
We WILL provide our patients with high quality care! Whether it be Physiotherapy treatments from one of our experienced licensed physiotherapists, Hand Therapy from one of our occupational therapists or physiotherapists who focus their career on Hand Therapy, Massage Therapy from one of our registered massage therapists, or a custom brace being fitted by one of our certified athletic therapists, or patients can be sure they will receive high quality, professional, prompt care.
We are proud to offer our patients a new, fresh, professional physiotherapy facility located on the edge of Guelph’s beautiful downtown. Our clinic is nicely located in central Guelph and is fully accessible with ample free parking and with a Guelph Transit stop conveniently at our front door.
We are committed to ensuring that all of our clients obtain an appointment as soon as possible. A quick plan of action is critical when dealing with pain and injury and we will do all we can to make sure you have prompt access to our services.

Clinic Owner
Shane and his wife Cherie, who is a senior physiotherapist at WPA, have owned and operated Wellington Physiotherapy Associates since 2001.
After completing an undergraduate Kinesiology degree in Sport Science from the University of New Brunswick and a Masters of Science Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario, Shane completed the Sports Injury Management program at Sheridan College and became a Certified Athletic Therapist. With that, Shane went on to gain considerable experience as an Athletic Therapist in various levels of elite Hockey. Shane worked as an athletic therapist for the Montreal Canadiens’ AHL affiliate in Fredericton, N.B., the University of Toronto Men’s Hockey Club, various Team Ontario and Ontario Hockey League teams & events, and was the Head Athletic Therapist for the OHL’s Guelph Storm for 20 years.
Throughout these years, Shane has worked in clinical settings in a variety of private orthopedic physiotherapy clinics providing athletic therapy services, including custom brace fitting & management, to a wide variety of athletes of all levels. Most recently Shane has been with Wellington Physiotherapy Associates and Wellington Ortho & Rehab in Guelph since 1998.
Cherie has owned and operated Wellington Physiotherapy Associates since 2001.
Having graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy in and from the University of New Brunswick with a Science Degree in Kinesiology, Cherie began her career in private orthopedic practice in 1997.
With a keen interest in orthopedic physiotherapy, Cherie has completed numerous post-graduate professional development courses including multiple hand-therapy courses, the McKenzie Series for treatment of back-related pathologies, and many other manual physiotherapy courses. Cherie also successfully completed her acupuncture certification from the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute and has obtained extensive post-graduate training in the assessment and manual treatment of shoulder related injury.
Being an ex-CIS athlete, Cherie has a natural affinity to treating both elite and recreational athletes and maintains a keen interest in personal fitness and training.
Danny has called Guelph and Wellington Physiotherapy Associates home since 2005. He graduated from Queen’s University in 2002 from the physiotherapy program following the completion of his Human Kinetics degree from the University of Ottawa. Since that time he has become a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physical Therapist (FCAMPT), completed specialized training in acupuncture (AFCI), concussion treatment, and hand therapy. Danny also has a passion for the treatment of sports injuries and has formed a partnership with Stanley Stick Hockey Association (SSHA) to provide education to coaches, parents and players. Outside of the clinic Danny can be found on a rink or on his family farm with his wife and two boys.
Jim completed a degree in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo, followed by his physiotherapy degree at the University of Western Ontario. After graduating in 2000, Jim worked as a licensed physiotherapist in a private orthopedic physiotherapy clinic in Sudbury until 2005 before moving to Guelph and joining Wellington Physiotherapy Associates. Jim continues his post graduate education by taking a wide variety of manual therapy courses, as well as acupuncture and hand specific rehabilitation courses.
Jim enjoys spending his spare time camping and at the climbing gym.
Carol Knight is an Occupational Therapist with special interest in hand and upper extremity injuries and has been practicing in the area of hand therapy since 2004. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Masters of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. For the past 12 years, Carol has been working directly with Plastic and Orthopedic Surgeons who treat acute care hand and upper extremity injuries in both hospital-based fracture clinic and outpatient hand therapy programs. Carol is knowledgeable in a variety of hand conditions and in performing accurate hand therapy assessments and the development/implementation of effective treatment programs.
Over the course of working as an Occupational Therapist in a hand therapy programs, Carol has the expertise in the management of scar tissue, wound care, splint fabrication, range of motion techniques, modalities, desensitization, return to work/daily activities and patient education. Carol has a special interest in the treatment of tendon repairs, nerve repairs/entrapment, hand/wrist fractures/dislocations, ligament injuries, amputations, and tendonitis to name a few conditions. Carol’s treatment approach comes from evidence based practice in combination with her hands-on experience over years of working with numerous surgeons and therapists. Carol is dedicated to attending yearly hand therapy conferences/educational courses for new and updated techniques/protocols for the implementation into her hand therapy practice. Carol's compassionate care, along with her knowledge and skill set lends to excellent outcomes and patient satisfaction.
